David Bowie's Lost Dress

This is a dress I re-created in my second year at university. It was designed by the wonderful Michael Fish for the album cover of Bowie's third album 'The Man Who Sold the World' released in 1970. This dress was so controversial for the time that the US version of the album cover had to be changed as his label didn't think that American audiences were ready to see a man wearing a dress. Despite this, Bowie wore it multiple times in the US during his press tour/ interviews.
